Question
Explain the operating principle of the clamp meter.
Answer
A clamp meter allows you to measure current by putting the conductor between the current transformer iron cores without cutting the wire in which current flows. The principle of measurement is to pick up the magnetic field lines (magnetic field) generated around the wire in which current flows with the iron core (transformer core) in the current transformer of the clamp meter and measure the current generated in the coil wound around the iron core. Coulomb's law, Fleming's law, etc. are applied to the above measurement principles. In the clamp meter that can also measure DC, a hall element is built into the above current transformer, and a minute current is passed through this hall element to measure DC.
