PS-8 is equipped with a VARTA 30DK secondary battery. This is a nickel-cadmium battery. Production of these batteries has been discontinued, and they have been replaced with nickel metal hydride V40H button type batteries. Two rechargeable button type V40H secondary batteries are used per device.
